High Performance Websites
In certain circumstances, usually caused by a website with high traffic volumes, or a lot of plugins in the case of a CMS, you may start to receive “Gateway Timeout” or “Out of Memory” errors (to name a few) on your website.
These errors are caused by inbuilt protections we have on our cPanel hosting servers, which restrict websites to the below hardware-based limits:
- Maximum 30% usage of a CPU core
- Maximum 512MB of virtual memory
- Maximum 512MB of physical memory
- Maximum 2.5 megabytes per second of Disk I/O
- Maximum of 60 simultaneous running processes
These limits are in place in order to protect the performance of other websites and customers on the server, as well as ensuring that any bugs or coding errors in a CMS application do not consume the full usage of the server.
However, these limits can be hit with normal web traffic on a high-performance website. If this is the case, we can offer, at our discretion, a “High Performance” addon to your web hosting package.
This addon will double all of the above limits, which allows your high-performance site to perform well and experience fast page-load times, without errors.
Note that this addon is offered at our discretion in order to only allow a certain number of customers per server, to ensure that the performance of other users is not affected.
If a website requires higher limits than the high performance plan offers, we would then suggest a virtual server for the website’s hosting requirements, which we can assist with.
If you believe that you may need the high performance addon, please do get in touch with our support team.
